List of world currencies

Foreign currency is the main Forex trading product. There are 180 such currencies in the world circulating in 197 countries.

Forex trading is primarily driven by currency exchange, with a select group of currencies dominating the market. Based on the 2022 Triennial Survey by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), here’s a snapshot of the most traded currencies:

• US Dollar (USD): Representing 44.25% of all transactions, the USD is the cornerstone of the Forex market.
• Euro (EUR): The second most traded currency, comprising 15.25% of trades, reflecting the economic power of the Eurozone.
• Japanese Yen (JPY): With 8.35% of market share, the Yen plays a crucial role, particularly in carry trades.
• British Pound (GBP): Known for its volatility, the GBP accounts for 6.45% of global trades.
• Chinese Yuan (CNY): Continuing to gain ground, the CNY makes up 3.50% of the market.

Other currencies, such as the Australian Dollar (AUD), Canadian Dollar (CAD), and Swiss Franc (CHF), together contribute 22.20% to Forex transactions, influenced by both regional and global economic factors.
